Non-Executive Director

 

Jim is a graduate of Baldwin-Wallace College in Bera, Ohio where he earned his MBA in business.

He joined General Electric Company in St Louis in 1962 as a management trainee in the major appliance sales and service business. Jim held various positions within the General Electric appliance business. In 1985 was appointed General Manager of General Electric national customer service business a position he held until he left GE in 1989 after 28 years of service to become an entrepreneur.

Since leaving GE Jim became a partner and board member with Safemaster Co. Inc. an East Coast security service company headquartered in Silver Spring, MD with operations in 27 cities. Sargent and Greenleaf, a high security lock manufacturing company located in Nicholsville, KY.  Do-it Corporation, a foundry that makes molds for the Do-it yourself fisherman to make their own equipment located in Denver, Iowa.

In addition to his partnerships, Jim held executive position’s at Montgomery Ward a General Electric owned company and APAC during the growth years. Jim is currently Executive Director at ‘Lil Drug Store Products’ and Vice Chairman of Corridor Management Company. Jim is also on the board’s of DFB Pharmaceuticals of Fort Worth, Texas, Acme Graphics, Cedar Rapids and Worley Warehousing Cedar Rapids. Do-it Corporation, beCogent and Lil’ Drug Store Products.

Jim has served on the boards of United Way of East central Iowa, The Cedar Rapids Art Museum, Big Brothers Big Sisters and Junior Achievement, Mount MercyCollege, and The Advisory Board for the MBA program at the University Of Iowa.

Jim enjoys his family and playing golf even though Barbara’s handicap is significantly lower than his. Jim and his wife Barbara Knapp have 7 children and 8 grandchildren.
